How do I know how much to pay for a Kwota?

When you post a Kwota, we ask you to set a budget to indicate how much you would like to spend. This amount is simply a starting point and from here, Kwota workers will make an offer on your job for an amount that they believe reflects the time, skill and work required to get your task completed.

As a starting point consider the following:

  • How much time will it take the Kwota worker to complete the task and what is a fair hourly rate. We recommend $25 per hour rate as a good starting point to then multiply by how long you think it will take.

You can also search other similar jobs before making or accepting offers.

I’ve posted my Kwota, now what?

Once you’ve posted your Kwota, it will be published publicly on the Browse feed.

Kwota workers who are interested in completing your task will make you an offer on your task.

Once you’ve reviewed and selected which Kwota worker is best suited to complete your task, you can accept their offer.

Note: if you have not yet provided us with your credit/debit card details, you will be prompted to enter your card details.

The job funds will then be securely held within our trusted Kwota account until the job is complete.

You’re in full control of the funds and release them to the Kwota worker once the job is complete.

Remember, another factor which can increase your likelihood to receive offers is a well written job description. Be sure to be clear in your description, time frame and budget.

Payments

Why has payment been deducted when work has not started?

Kwota connects people, and we use a payment process that keeps it fair for everyone. This is how it works:

  1. Choose a Kwota worker to complete your job.
  2. We then securely hold your payment until the job is complete.
  3. The job is completed successfully.
  4. You then release the payment to the Kwota worker.
  5. Both sides then leave reviews for each other.

Everyone’s happy!

Why this is great for you – if the Kwota worker does a poor job or doesn’t show up, we can refund the payment to you.

How do I release payment to the Kwota worker?

When the Kwota has been completed and you’re happy with the service you’ve received, click the “My Kwotas” icon in the menu bar and select the Kwota in which you want to release payment for.

Once selected, click the “Completed” button next to the Kwota worker which will be under the “Accepted Offer” heading.

After this process is carried out, we will then transfer the funds securely to the Kwota worker.

You will then be able to leave a review for the Kwota worker.

How do I manage my payment settings?

Select the “More” icon in the menu, then click “Payments“. From there, you’ll be able to see your payment history, as well as the “Receive Payments” and “Make Payments” tabs.

There you’ll be able to enter bank account information for you to get paid into should you be completing Kwotas or credit card details should you wish to pay for Kwotas to be completed.

Are my payment details protected?

Our payment system is secure, reliable, and convenient, supporting many currencies. All the data is safely encrypted to ensure your privacy. Your data is protected to the highest standards.

When will I receive my funds?

Once the poster has released the funds into your account, it can take anywhere between a few hours to 3 business days for the funds to reach your registered bank account.

What should I do if my Kwota worker cancels?

Unfortunately sometimes these things happen, however we’re happy to help.

If your Kwota worker doesn’t show up or they’re not responding to your messages, we recommend that you give them at least 24-48 hours to get back to you. If they’re still unresponsive let them know via the Kwota app private messaging system that you’ll be cancelling their offer on your Kwota.

Once cancelled you’ll be fully refunded, and you can then accept another workers offer.

Following this, please email support@kwota.co.nz and we’ll be in touch.

I posted a Kwota. What are some safety tips I should follow?

When getting an Kwota worker to complete your job, being aware of the following tips will help you get your Kwota done quick and easy.

  1. It’s important for safety not to disclose your personal info like your full name, address or phone number when you post a Kwota or comment.
  2. Once you’ve chosen a Kwota worker to complete your job, you may need to share more information or discuss private messages however you should try to communicate through Kwota private messaging – that way, if anything needs to be sorted in the interest of trust and safety, it’s all there in writing.
  3. Ask for more profile pictures if you want to check the authenticity of a member you’re about to work with.
  4. Don’t be shy to ask your Kwota worker to show his drivers licence or other form of ID before commencing the task. If you are getting a trade related task done, ask for a trade licence ID.
  5. Try to be as specific as possible when you communicate with Kwota workers about your job. This helps to make sure both parties are always on the same page. Don’t be afraid to ask the Kwota worker if they have the experience to complete you job.
  6. Don’t pay the Kwota worker for your job until it has been completed and you are satisfied. If you are ever in a situation where you are not satisfied with the job, try to work with the Kwota worker to sort it out first, but if you need to take further action, you can always contact us.
  7. If you ever feel uncomfortable with another member at any stage in the process, you should let us know. If at any time you feel in danger you should always call emergency 111.
My offer was accepted. What are some safety tips I should follow?

When completing a job on Kwota, here are a few tips you can follow to make you get the most out of the Kwota app.

  1. Before you commit to running a Kwota, ask as many questions as you need to ensure that you can meet expectations and earn positive reviews.
  2. When first meeting, try to meet people in a public place like a busy street, office or café before going elsewhere.
  3. Upload extra photos on your profile and choose photos that clearly show your face. This lets people know you are happy to show who you are and that you’re a trustworthy person!
  4. Always let someone else know when you are running a Kwota and where you’ll be. Remember to keep in touch and stay contactable on your mobile.
  5. If you feel unsafe about the task you are about to do or the place that you have to go to give us a call and if you ever feel like you are in danger call emergency 111.
How do taxes work for Kwota workers?

If you have a GST turnover of 60,000 or more from your Kwota activities as a business (or if the combined turnover from your Kwota activities and other business activities is $60,000 or more), you will need to pay GST. Goods and Services Tax applies at the rate of 15% on the supply of most goods and services.

Once you are registered for GST, you will need to collect GST on every supply you make to customers. In practice, this means that 15% of every fee you receive will be GST.

All income as a whole is taxable income. You can see a record of all the Kwotas you’ve completed in the “payments” section. That income needs to be disclosed as business income on your tax return.
